Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback scored one of the goals of the season in the Premier League on Sunday.
The 25-year-old found the target against Stoke City in the 74th minute of the Premier League clash at St. James’ Park.
Colback, who moved to Newcastle on a free transfer in the summer of 2014 after leaving Sunderland, scored with a low shot that Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic failed to keep out of his net.
Following the goal, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker took to social networking site Twitter to reveal his admiration.
A gorgeous bit of football amidst the mediocrity. Colback strikes for Newcastle.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) February 8, 2015
As Lineker stated, the match was a disappointment until then, but there was more drama after that goal.
Newcastle, who had won 3-0 against Hull City away from home last weekend, looked set for a home victory when substitute Peter Crouch struck a last-minute equaliser.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving John Carver’s team 11th in the Premier League table with 31 points from 24 matches.
