Nabil Bentaleb may only be 20, but the Algeria international proved once again on Saturday just what an important player he is for Tottenham Hotspur.
Having only just returned from international duty, the midfielder stepped into the starting line-up for a North London derby and subsequently excelled in the centre of the park.
Tottenham are now ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League table, and if they continue at this rate Mauricio Pochettino’s side could yet seal a place in the top-four.
That is a long way off, and their participation in both the Europa League and the Capital One Cup means there is a lot of football still to be played, but Bentaleb and his fellow Tottenham players have the talent and the confidence to make this a very good season at White Hart Lane.

As you can see from the statistics above, Bentaleb had a passing accuracy of 87 per cent, while he also delivered a wonderful ball for Kane to score what proved to be the winner.
Three key passes, four won tackles and three interceptions tell their own story, as do the seven duels the Tottenham youngster won in a fiercely contested encounter.
He also played 17 forward passes, setting things in motion as much as breaking up opposition play.
Would Tottenham have won this match without Bentaleb? It is impossible to say for certain, but there is no doubt he made things much easier for them and he is only going to get better in the coming years.
