The Magpies star says he is 'almost back' to action.
Ryan Taylor says he is almost back to full fitness, according to the Newcastle star's official Instagram account.
The injury-plagued Newcastle United man recovered from a long-term knee problem earlier this season only to then suffer a further setback.
That injury was believed to be minor in nature but it has still kept Taylor out for another several weeks.
Now, however, the 30-year-old says he is almost back to action after returning to first-team training earlier this week.
"Very happy to be back training. After all the set backs I've had I will continue to work harder and never give up #AlmostBack," the Newcastle midfielder posted on social media.
Taylor may not necessarily be ready for the Magpies' Premier League clash with Stoke City later today, although it will no doubt provide a boost for John Carver and co should Taylor return to full fitness for their coming fixtures.
Newcastle currently sit 11th in the Premier League and victory over Stoke, who sit in 10th, could see them leapfrog the Potters in the league table.
Stoke have incentive of their own, however, with a win at St James' Park allowing them to climb past Swansea City into ninth following their draw with Sunderland yesterday afternoon.
Kick-off is at 2.05pm British Time on Tyneside.
