The Dutch international has been linked with Manchester United in the past week.
Earlier this week, despite the transfer window slamming shut, The Express claimed to know the number one target for Manchester United in the summer.
They claim that Memphis Depay, the 20-year-old Netherlands international, is the man in question. They state that United will make a £10 million move for the player this summer.
Depay was a member of Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands squad at the World Cup and caught the eye with some good performances for his nation.
But he has also been in terrific form for PSV Eindhoven this season and now his current club manager has admitted he might be growing ever closer to a step up in class. Former Barcelona midfielder Philipp Cocu was quoted by SoccerNews.nl as saying:
"It's simple. Memphis is a very important player for us, he is almost involved in every dangerous situation. I think he really has learned a lot and still does, but he has the qualities to go a step higher... that much is clear. "
He made those comments after Depay scored twice at the weekend, taking the wingers tally for the season to 21 for the season in just 26 appearances, as an injury ruled him out for a period of time earlier in the campaign.
If he keeps up this form there is no doubt Manchester United would be a great move for the Dutch talent.
