Manchester United round-up: Early team news; club acts after Di Maria raid

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United take on West Ham United at Upton Park this afternoon in what is a huge match for both sides.

United slipped back down to fourth in the Premier League table following Southampton’s late win on Saturday, while West Ham can go level on points with Liverpool if they win.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Michael Carrick remains on the side-lines for Louis van Gaal’s side, while Ashley Young could make his first start since the beginning of January.

Colombian striker Radamel Falcao is reportedly also hoping for a recall having sat out the FA Cup fourth round replay with Cambridge United last week.

In other news, the Mirror reports that United acted to reassure the club’s players following an attempted burglary at the home of Angel Di Maria.

The report claims that any of the players – including fellow summer arrivals Marcos Rojo and Falcao – will be offered round-the-clock security if they so wish.
