Leeds United lost 1-0 to Brentford on Saturday but what did the home fans think of Billy Sharp's contribution?
Leeds United could not make it three wins in a row as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Brentford on Saturday.
Neil Redfearn’s side had impressed in recent weeks, defeating Bournemouth and Huddersfield and going on a four-match undefeated streak. But that was abruptly halted when Alex Pritchard scored what proved to be the winner for the visitors at Elland Road.
The Leeds boss had settled on what looked like a winning formula in recent weeks, so how did fans react to the inclusion of Billy Sharp on the left wing?
The 29-year-old was Leeds’ saviour last week, when he came off the bench to score the winner against Huddersfield. But despite being used – to great effect – as an impact substitute in recent times he was tasked with a different role on Saturday and while he had chances, he failed to convert them.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Leeds fans thought of Sharp’s contribution and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Billy Sharp is a striker and needs to play in that role to get best out of him never use him as a wide player— Martin jones (@martinjones_fc) February 7, 2015
Surely Ajose would be a better option from the left than Billy Sharp, why haven't we recalled him #lufc— LeedsUtdFC1919 (@LeedsUtdFC1919) February 7, 2015
I now see why Billy Sharp shouldn't start— Phill (@WAFLL_92) February 7, 2015
We really need to start taking our chances. How Billy Sharp didn't score at least one of his chances near the end I'll never know.— Matty Booth (@mattylufc_) February 7, 2015
Think in a way, we lost the game trying to accommodate billy sharp in the team. Should've stuck with the same formation.— All Leeds Aren't We? (@AllLeedsArentWe) February 7, 2015
Fully established now that billy sharp is an off the bench player and Steve Morison is never going to contribute any goals.— carl smith (@carlsmith_88) February 7, 2015
