Following Spurs’ 2-1 victory over Arsenal at White Hart Lane in the North London derby on Saturday, the 24-year-old right-back posted the following message on Twitter.
Not a bad 10 days... sealed a place in a cup final at Wembley and beat Arsenal. Amazing atmosphere today, fans really drove us on!! #COYS— Kyle Walker (@kylewalker2) February 7, 2015
That single post from Walker sums up just what a wonderful season Tottenham are having, and how much success they can achieve between now and the end of the campaign.
The past two or so weeks were going to be crucial for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. They could have either tasted bitter disappointment or experienced utter euphoria.
As it turned out, Spurs emerged with flying colours. True, the North London club suffered what was probably a shock defeat to Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup last month, but their ultimate dream - to finish in the top four of the Premier League - is still alive.
Tottenham’s performance against Leicester at White Hart Lane on January 24 was disappointing, but they have since bounced back in style.
Winning against Sheffield United away from home in the League Cup was never going to be easy, but they did progress from that semi-final tie after drawing the second leg 2-2 at Bramall Lane.
Then came the comprehensive 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns in the Premier League, and on Sunday Arsenal were vanquished at White Hart Lane.
The last 10 days have proved that Spurs can recover from defeats and shocks in style. Pochettino’s players have that mentality not to dwell too much on disappointment.
