In a match that was on as knife-edge right up until the final whistle, Lewis Dunk opened the scoring and Beram Kayal finished it, but Dougie Freedman’s side scored the three goals in the middle that ultimately sealed his first win in charge.
The new Forest boss made a number of changes to the side that turned out in Stuart Pearce’s final game in charge, and he was proved right as his side picked up a vital three points.
Brighton had the vast majority of possession – 65 per cent to Forest’s 35 per cent – and they had 24 shots compared with the visitors’ eight. But it was all about finding the back of the net and Forest scored with their only three efforts on target.
After the match, Lansbury and Forest’s on-loan midfielder Gary Gardner both took to Twitter to express their happiness at the result.
Lansbury hailed a great win and the great support from Forest’s supporters while Gardner praised Brighton’s efforts but was obviously pleased to overcome them.
