Arsenal had a day to forget on Saturday, when they fell to a 2-1 defeat away to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old has become a regular for Arsenal at left-back this season and against Tottenham he put in a fine individual performance.
While he could not ultimately help his side to the victory, he helped prevent Tottenham from scoring more goals, with the hosts having an impressive 23 shots (eight of which were on target).
Time and again Monreal played his part, making 11 effective clearances in total and winning 24 battles (14 on the ground and 10 in the air).

The Arsenal full-back also won two tackles, made six interceptions and played one key pass, while his passing accuracy of 74 per cent was not bad when you consider the occasion.
While some of Arsenal's players did not play to their own lofty standards Monreal can hold his head high even if the result did not go his way.
Next up for the Gunners is a match against Leicester City on Tuesday and expect Monreal to be one of the first names on the team-sheet after this performance.
