Jamie Carragher’s reaction to Harry Kane’s North London derby winner

Arsenal V Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane scored a late goal to hand his side a 2-1 victory over Arsenal.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher took to social networking site Twitter in order to have his say on Harry Kane’s winner at White Hart Lane.

He wrote: “Another late goal from Spurs & could be 2-1 again! Called Kane a genius Monday which was over the top but it'll feel like that to Spurs fans”

The 2-1 scoreline is becoming an increasingly common result for Spurs of late and despite its close nature, they certainly won’t be complaining that they repeated the trick again on Saturday.

North London rivals Arsenal took an early lead though Germany international Mesut Ozil and looked relatively comfortable through to half-time.

However, a second-half spell for the hosts was always going to come and man of the moment Kane proved just why he has been tipped for the top with some clinical finishing.

His first, a right-footed effort following a flick on from teammate Mousa Dembele, swung the balance in Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s favour and the White Hart Lane crowd started to sense the momentum was with them.

Intensity, drive, passion, heart – all the traits and attributes from the home side were on show and the Gunners were all-but powerless to stop the game’s crowning moment five minutes from time.

Another Nabil Bentaleb cross was swung over and Spurs’ young striker climbed highest as he expertly guided a header beyond David Ospina, handing the hosts a massive three points.

Sky Sports pundit Carragher remarked that his previous opinion of Kane might be slightly exaggerated, but the feeling from Spurs fans right now will suggest that certainly wasn’t far off the truth.

The victory takes the Lilywhites closer to the Premier League's top four, whereas defeat means the Gunners will end the weekend in sixth position regardless of results elsewhere.
