Ryan Mason reflects on Tottenham Hotspur’s win against Arsenal in the North London derby and looks ahead to Tuesday’s clash against Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has underlined the importance of the win against Arsenal to BT Sport.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side got the better of their North London rivals 2-1 at White Hart Lane to maintain their chances of a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal took the lead as early as the 11th minute through Mesut Ozil, but England Under-21 international Harry Kane scored twice in the second half to wrap up the three points.

It was an intriguing game of football at White Hart Lane, and one which Spurs probably deserved to win.

While Mason was delighted with Tottenham's win against their bitter rivals, he is not going to dwell on the triumph too much.

The 23-year-old is already looking ahead to Tuesday’s game against Liverpool and told BT Sport: "We are buzzing and it's great to get one over on them (Arsenal).

“We've been on a good run, we have a tough game at Liverpool on Tuesday but we go there full of confidence, and hopefully we can get a result there.”

Mature

It is really mature of Mason to immediately focus on the game against Liverpool, especially with it being played on Tuesday.

As good as Tottenham were against Arsenal on Saturday, they cannot slip up against the Reds at Anfield.

The win against the Gunners has enhanced Spurs’ chances of a top-four finish, and they should use this confidence and momentum to win at Liverpool.

Anfield is not an easy place to win at and it will not be on Tuesday, especially as Liverpool themselves are looking good for a top-four place.

However, with confidence so high in the Tottenham camp, Pochettino’s players should feel confident of a win.
