People News - Morgan Stanley, RBS

Morgan Stanley co-head of mergers and acquisitions for EMEA Johannes Groeller is to join Paul Taubman's advisory boutique, a source familiar with the move has told Reuters.

The news agency reports that Groeller's decision to work with Taubman after 22 years at the Wall Street investment bank was finalised this week, said the source, who asked not to be named.

In the meantime, Bloomberg News reports that Morgan Stanley named Ellen Zentner as its chief U.S. economist, replacing Vincent Reinhart, who left the bank last month.

Zentner is a Managing Mirector who has served as senior U.S. economist since joining Morgan Stanley in August 2013, according to an internal memo obtained Friday by Bloomberg. Akhilesh Raina, a spokesman for the New York-based bank, confirmed the memo’s contents.

Finally, Bloomberg also reports that Patrick Beranek, Royal Bank of Scotland’s head trader of asset-backed securities such as bonds tied to automobile and student loans, left the U.K. bank’s shrinking U.S. securities arm last month.

Beranek, who handled trading of bonds not linked to mortgages, said in an e-mail on Friday that he hasn’t decided what he will do next and declined to comment further.
