NBA legend Steve Nash makes Twitter bet on North London derby with Alecko Eskandarian

The LA Lakers star is a massive Tottenham Hotspur fan.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur face off this weekend in the Premier League, aiming to take the bragging rights in North London in the process. It is a mouth watering prospect which has tongues wagging across the country and, it would seem, across the pond.

American ‘soccer’ fans will no doubt be tuned in to watch the game and that includes the odd famous name, including one NBA superstar who happens to be a massive Tottenham Hotspur fan.

LA Lakers legend Steve Nash’s father was born in the area of London and therefore Nash is a die hard Spurs fan, so will be hoping to see his team come out on top in the upcoming derby.

He is also pretty confident, as yesterday he agreed to a bet with former US soccer player Alecko Eskandarian. The ex-LA Galaxy player is now assistant coach at the New York Cosmos and challenged Nash to this wager on Twitter yesterday - although it is Alecko that will be doing the work regardless.

He agreed that if Arsenal win he gets to captain one of the teams at Showdown in Chinatown, a charity football event set up by Nash and former Manchester City midfielder Claudio Reyna that takes place in Manhattan every June. Clearly Eskandarian wants to get in on the action. He also wants a signed jersey from Nash.

But if Spurs win, drinks are on the NY Cosmos coach for an evening for the 41-year-old NBA legend.
