He may currently be plying his trade elsewhere, but Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has clearly remembered what an important day it is for Gunners fans.
Arsene Wenger’s side travel to White Hart Lane today for the latest North London derby with just one place and two points separating the two clubs in the Premier League table.
A win for Arsenal and they will go five points clear of their fierce rivals, but victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and they will leap-frog the visitors.
Podolski is currently on loan at Italian side Inter Milan, where he has made six appearances to date, but he will be watching with the rest of Arsenal’s supporters at lunch-time today.
Writing on Twitter ahead of the match, Podolski had the following message for his teammates:
“Good luck my boys playing this derby today. London is in Red. Come on Gunners.”
Podolski also posted the famous picture of him celebrating with the Arsenal fans following a previous success in an encounter that remains as vital as ever.
But this time he will be unable to influence proceedings, leaving it up to those left behind to do the business and keep their team in with a shout of a top-four finish.
