On Transfer Deadline Day Leeds United completed the signing of yet another loanee from Italian football.
Edgar Cani arrived until the end of the season from Catania, joining Granddi Ngoyi and Sol Bamba, who switched temporarily from Palermo. And now Redfearn has revealed just who Cani has arrived to compete with.
Leeds already have plenty of striking options, with Mirco Antenucci and Billy Sharp competing with current number one option Steve Morison.
Redfearn confirmed this week to the official Leeds website: ''He’s a great build for a big man up front. He’s got a good touch and good awareness.
"He links in well and he’s aware of the people around him. He’s got the makings of that foil as a lone striker.
"Steve Morison’s been playing really well but, apart from Steve, we haven’t really got anyone else who can play that tall target man that’s mobile.
"He’s a welcome addition and he brings competition."
Despite the aspects of Morison’s game which have made him a vital member of Neil Redfearn’s team, he still hasn't scored a goal for Leeds this season. In fact he has not scored for Leeds since March 2013, when he bagged a double against Crystal Palace.
The former Millwall frontman will be hoping to end that drought over the coming weeks, with the Whites still in need of an attacking spark as they endeavour to haul themselves clear of relegation danger in the Championship.
