The stopper dropped the ball in the back of his own net against Sunderland in the FA Cup this week.
Hugo Rodallega gave Fulham the lead in the game and it looked as though they might be on their way to causing something of an upset against The Black Cats.
However that is when disaster struck for the young goalkeeper. He dropped a hanging delivery into his own net in the game in what was undoubtedly one of the worst goalkeeping errors in the FA Cup this season, if not all time.
But Bettineli is not letting it get him down. Goalkeepers need to have a thick skin and the England under-21 international has taken to Twitter to ensure Fulham fans that the moment is not getting to him and he is ready to take on Birmingham City this weekend.
There is Nowhere to hide in football. Looking forward to getting back out tomoz! Thanks for messages after the game pic.twitter.com/SMeORFF73E— marcus bettinelli (@marcusbettss) February 6, 2015
The former Accrington Stanley loanee has become the Fulham number one this season, holding off competition from Jesse Joronen and Gabor Kiraly.
This is now the first big real test of the 21-year-old’s career so far. So Fulham fans will hope he can get through the recent difficulty.
