Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker spoke ahead of the North London derby about how special it is to play in the match and the importance of sticking to the plan.
In pre-match comments published by Spurs’ official Twitter account, the recently returned right-back said, “It’s always a special moment – a big derby and we want to get the three points we need.
“We’ve been playing well. We need to stick to our game plan and we always know we can score.”
Walker has played 10 matches since his return from a long-term pelvic injury and he was named in the starting XI for Tottenham’s vital encounter with an Arsenal side they can overtake with a victory today.
Tottenham’s defence came under fire at the start of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure but the manager has now settled on a regular back-four and he is benefitting from some fine performances as a result of that consistency.
With Tottenham and Arsenal now in possession of wonderful squads and star players in the mould of Alexis Sanchez and Christian Eriksen among others, this rivalry is set to crank up another notch in the campaigns to come.
