Confirmed: Aston Villa v Chelsea lineups

Here is how Aston Villa and Chelsea will line up for this afternoon’s match:

Aston Villa take on Chelsea at Villa Park with Jose Mourinho’s side looking to keep reigning champions Manchester City at arm’s length.

Five points currently separate the two sides but Chelsea will know any slip-ups could see Manuel Pellegrini’s men move ominously close to the leaders.

Villa are 16th in the table, just three points clear of the drop zone and without a top flight goal in six matches.

Paul Lambert’s side are without a win in their last eight league encounters and things will not get any easier this afternoon.

That said, Chelsea will know not to take today’s opponents lightly after the Villans defeated them 1-0 in the corresponding fixture last season.

Chelsea have work to do away from home but could their defence really be tested by a side who have been so goal-shy in recent weeks?

Only time will tell but if Lambert could mastermind an unlikely victory it will be a huge boost for everyone involved with the club.
