The pair were team-mates at Italian side Palermo before becoming Yorkshire rivals.
Leeds United completed the signing of Albanian striker Edgar Cani on Deadline Day. The 25-year-old front man arrived from Catania on a loan deal until the end of the season, as Neil Redfearn looks to increase the competition among the under stimulated strikers at Elland Road.
Interestingly enough however, Cani is a former team-mate of a striker for one of Leeds’ biggest rivals.
The attached picture shows the pair training together during their time at Palermo. Cani was at Palermo from 2008 to 2011 but spent most of that time out on loan at various lower league clubs.
He then went on to play in Poland before finding himself back in Italy with Catania and is now hoping to impose himself at Leeds.
Hernandez was at Palermo from 2009 until last summer, when he joined Hull City in a club record move. His time in England has unfortunately been interrupted by personal problems, which saw him return to his native Uruguay for a period of time.
