The Manchester United youngster has revealed what the club intend to achieve this season.
Having missed out on European qualification, and been knocked out of the League Cup at the earliest opportunity, United’s season looked in disarray as soon as it started.
The appointment of Louis van Gaal and his Galacticos approach to the transfer market hinted at a successful season, and, having endured the tough start to the year, it now looks as if things are on the up at Old Trafford. Competing for the top four of the Premier League, and being one of the favourites for FA Cup success has made van Gaal’s approach to management more acceptable, but, considering the astronomical money the club spent in the summer, it’s not really acceptable that the Red Devils are still in a transition year.
The minimum expectations would be to secure Champions League football for next season, whilst winning the FA Cup would be an added bonus, but Januzaj has told Marca that United are still looking to win the Premier League - despite league leaders Chelsea sitting 10 points ahead in first place.
The young Belgian international said: “Our goal this year is to be back in the top four, and that is what we are working for. We are still there and can still win the Premier League even. Anything is possible in football - you never know what can happen.”
The 20-year-old winger looks to be feeling too optimistic if he believes United can still win the league, although the Red Devils look one of the certainties for a top four finish. Although Januzaj himself has featured little this term, he will surely play a big part in the second half of the campaign, as van Gaal looks to ensure Champions League football returns to Old Trafford for next season.
