Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has told The Sun that his side need to be defensively strong against Tottenham Hotspur.
Both Tottenham and Arsenal will head into the game on good form, and both will be determined to win in order to maintain the challenge for a top-four finish in the league this season.
Wales international Ramsey is relishing the contest, and he has highlighted how the Gunners need to play to pick up all three points at White Hart Lane.
“We must try to limit them, like we did (Manchester) City," the 24-year-old told The Sun. "Players know all about the rivalry and tradition’. We are always capable of creating opportunities.
“So, as long as we defend well — which we have been doing of late, we’ve kept a lot of clean sheets — we always have a fantastic opportunity of winning the game.”
Will the strategy work?
Ramsey’s idea of how to play against Tottenham is indeed brilliant, but it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can execute that plan.
Arsenal have looked strong defensively in recent games and have not conceded a single goal in their last four Premier League games.
However, keeping a clean sheet against Spurs will be very tough, especially with star striker Harry Kane in red-hot form and Christian Eriksen on song.
Kane has scored no fewer than 20 goals in all competitions this season, including 10 in the Premier League, while Denmark international playmaker Eriksen has created 53 chances in 23 league appearances.
As Ramsey says, Arsenal can create opportunities and finish them, but it will be more important not to concede.
If Tottenham score an early goal, then they could go on and win the North London derby.
