Harry Kane may have hit the back of the net 20 times already this season, but he has told the Tottenham Journal that he has still not reached his target.
The 21-year-old is the top goalscoring Premier League striker, across all competitions, but he is clearly not resting on his laurels.
Kane is driven to raise his goalscoring total even further and, although he would not disclose the actual target he has set himself, he did say that he hasn't met it yet.
“I have set myself a goal in my head but I won’t let you know yet,” he said.
“When I get there I’ll let you know what it was, but I’m happy to get to 20 goals and there are still plenty more games so hopefully I can get a few more and see where it takes us as a team.”
Kane's desire to continue to hit the back of the net can only be good news for the side as he is arguably their most important player.
Although the likes of Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris will claim to be more talented, Spurs's lack of cover in Kane's position makes him imperative to their chances of success.
Both Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado have proven to be incapable of leading the line at White Hart Lane, meaning that Kane's goalscoring prowess is crucial to the team.
Tottenham, therefore, must ensure that they keep the striker fit until the end of the campaign and his form may ultimately decide whether the Lilywhites make it into the top four or not.
