Newcastle United youngster Remie Streete has told the Chronicle he won’t rule out leaving the club at the end of the season.
Streete was one of five players to move to Rangers from Newcastle at the end of the season and he’s hinted he doesn’t know what’s going to happen with his contract
“My contract is up at the end of the season at Newcastle so it is open as to whether they offer us a new deal or whether I choose to go somewhere else,” he said.
“Hopefully things go well at Rangers and I fall in love with the club. Who knows what could happen?”
If Streete wants to get a new contract offer from the club, the only way he can do that is by getting his head down and working hard.
He needs to make the most of his chances and show Newcastle he can handle the pressure of playing in the middle of a defence for a big British side.
If he wants a move away then his aim is exactly the same as he needs to show Rangers, or any other side, why he’d be worth offering a new contract to.
He’ll face some difficult challenges because the style of football in the Scottish Championship will be different to what he’s already experienced and Rangers have a demanding set of fans.
He’s a talented young player who could do a job at Newcastle but he has to show them why he’s worth keeping.
