Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn and midfielder Luke Murphy have both been nominated for awards based on performances in January.
Redfearn is up for the Championship’s manager of the month award, while Murphy is in contention for the player’s equivalent.
Redfearn deserves praise for transforming the recent performances of the side, which leave the side looking for their third win on the bounce this weekend against Brentford.
Other than the defeat against Sunderland in the FA Cup at the start of January, Leeds didn’t lose another game last month with a win against Championship leaders Bournemouth.
It was in that game that Murphy produced the decisive strike, arguably one of his best in the recent past.
It’s a challenge for Redfearn to keep the winning run going throughout February and continuing to get the team further up the Championship table.
Confidence will be high at the moment and he needs to try and take advantage of that.
Murphy’s challenge is to stay in the team and improve on his recent performances and to aim for becoming one of the club’s main midfielders.
