Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told The Telegraph that Christian Eriksen can be as good as Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez.
Spain international midfielder Fabregas has been a key player for Chelsea, who are currently five points clear at the top of the league table.
Arsenal forward Sanchez has been arguably the best player in the Premier League this campaign, often carrying the Gunners on his own.
Eriksen is much younger than Fabregas and Sanchez, but Pochettino believes that the 22-year-old can reach their levels sooner rather than later.
“Yes, so far,” The Telegraph quotes the Argentine boss as saying when asked if Eriksen has matches Sanchez and Fabregas this season. “Christian has the possibility to get to the same level. His contribution so far is as great for the team.”
Pochettino seems to be quite confident of Eriksen, but do the stats stack up?
|Goal Assist||Key Passes||Goals||Dispossessed||Ball Recovery||Total Pass||Accurate Pass||Appearances||Mins Played|
The stats do not always tell the whole story, of course, and one needs to consider that Fabregas, Eriksen and Sanchez are different types of players.
While Chile international Sanchez is a forward, Eriksen is a playmaker and Fabregas is an attacking midfielder with defensive duties at Chelsea.
Even then, the stats do show that Eriksen has been very good this season and is certainly on course to become one of the best players in the Premier League.
The former Ajax star has been dispossessed fewer times than Sanchez, has made more ball recoveries than the Arsenal ace and scored more goals than Fabregas.
