Everton boss Roberto Martinez says that any suggestions that Kevin Mirallas was close to leaving the club in the January transfer window were wide of the mark.
Speaking at his press conference today, Martinez moved to quash claims from the London Evening Standard that Mirallas was keen on a move to Tottenham Hotspur - stating that the Belgian winger was still enjoying his time at Goodison Park.
"The stories about Kevin have no substance," he said. "He is enjoying his football here."
Tottenham were linked with Mirallas for almost the entirety of the January transfer window, but the two sides did not appear to even come close to agreeing a deal.
That will please Toffees supporters, as Mirallas is one of the side's key players. The Belgian's natural skill in possession makes him a match-winner and he is likely to play an important part in whatever success the Merseyside outfit have between now and the end of the campaign.
Rumours over his future are likely to persist in the summer, however, because of his current contract situation. Mirallas will be entering the last year of his deal next campaign and speculation over possible destinations for him is only set to increase, as a result.
Mirallas will be looking to put all that to the back of his mind though, and he has a chance to show that he is still fully focused on matters at Everton by helping them to a victory over Liverpool this weekend.
