Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has congratulated Steven Gerrard on his 700th appearance for Liverpool.
Former England international midfielder Gerrard featured in his 700th game for the Merseyside outfit on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old started the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Bolton Wanderers away from home and played a key role in the win.
The Liverpool star played for the entire 90 minutes and helped his team register a 2-1 win at the Macron Stadium to progress to the fifth round of the prestigious competition.
Wilshere, who played with Gerrard at international level, has congratulated the veteran midfielder and has described him as a “role model” in a post on Instagram.
Gerrard has been a loyal servant to Liverpool for years, but he will leave the Premier League outfit at the end of the season when his contract runs out.
The midfielder has already agreed to join Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy in the summer.
Gerrard is one of the greatest footballers in Liverpool’s history and arguably the best since the turn of the century.
The Englishman has won the Champions League once (2005), the UEFA Cup once (2001), the FA Cup twice (2001, 2006) and the League Cup three times (2001, 2003 and 2012) with Liverpool.
