Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio has suggested to the club’s website that a fast start is key in the game against Arsenal this weekend.
Spurs head into the match off the back of a positive result against West Brom last weekend, as they look to leapfrog the Gunners in the table.
“We started aggressively (against West Brom) which was important in getting the three points. We need to keep this attitude and this strong mentality,” said the defender.
An aggressive start against Arsenal is important because it will let Arsene Wenger’s team know that Spurs mean business.
It can announce Tottenham’s physical presence in all areas of the team and exploit any anxiety which may be evident from Arsenal player’s at the start of the game.
It can put the Gunners onto the back foot and allow Spurs to press high up the pitch and build some pressure.
What Mauricio Pochettino can’t allow to happen is for the side to become overly aggressive and a little bit reckless.
Arsenal have plenty of quality in possession and creative midfielders who can exploit space and find a killer pass on the counter attack.
An aggressive start combined with an intimidating atmosphere and common sense when it comes to the difficult decisions should help the team get over the line.
