Arsenal-linked Marcelo Brozovic makes full Inter debut

The Croatia international was named in the Nerazzurri side that lost 1-0 to Napoli in the Coppa Italia last night.

Arsenal strengthened their squad with the January additions of Krystian Bielik and Gabriel Paulista last month, but were also being heavily linked with a move for Marcelo Brozovic.

The Croatia international had starred back in his homeland and was being rumoured as a Gunners target, but ended up penning a two-year loan deal with Inter instead.

Brozovic’s first involvement with his new side came at the weekend as he made an appearance from the bench in the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 defeat to Sassuolo.

However, Roberto Mancini opted to give the eastern European his first start for the Serie A side in last night’s 1-0 defeat to Napoli in the Coppa Italia.

Brozovic started in central midfield alongside Hernanes and Gary Medel, but was unable to stop Inter’s recent run of poor form as Gonzalo Higuain scored an injury time winner for the San Paolo hosts.

According to, the Croat received an overall rating of 6.7 for his showing.

In playing the entire 90 minutes, Brozovic completed 57 of his 66 passes, giving him an 86 per cent success rate.

He had two successful dribbles and won all four of his attempted tackles.

The 22-year-old is certainly one for the future and after a solid Inter full debut will look to tie down a regular starting berth in Mancini’s side.
