Aberdeen signed the midfielder from St Mirren on Deadline Day.
Celtic were busy on Transfer Deadline day, but their rivals in the SPL title race also made a big signing on the day. The Dons snapped up talented Scotland under-21 international Kenny McLean from St Mirren to aid their efforts in chasing down Celtic, whom they currently sit behind by three points in second place.
McLean has now been discussing his move and his belief that his new team can catch Celtic and push them all the way in the title race. He told The Press and Journal:
“Aberdeen were sitting at the top of the table for a long time and having played against them I know how strong their squad is.
“We just need to take it game by game starting with Ross County on Saturday.”
He will also have added incentive to topple The Bhoys, as he was at Rangers as a youngster.
McLean was with the club until the age of 15, before being released and joining Paisley based St Mirren - where he made his name.
Now he is hoping to push on with his new team and take down his former arch-rivals in the race for the SPL title.
If they were to do so it would of course be the first time a non-Glasgow club has won the SPL title since Aberdeen way back in 1985 - 30 years ago.
It would certainly make one heck of an anniversary.
