Arsenal legend Thierry Henry told Sky Sports News on deadline day what he feels is the main benefit of Harry Kane’s new contract for Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham announced on Monday that Kane has signed a new long term deal to stay at White Hart Lane and Henry has spelled out an obvious benefit for Spurs.
“I think it’s a great deal – it’s great for the youngsters,” said the Frenchman.
Kane is the living proof for any younger player at Spurs of what can be achieved if they’re willing to work hard enough.
He’s made the most of his chances when he’s been handed them and sits with 20 goals to his name so far this season from all competitions.
The pressure has just been increased slightly by the new deal and it will be interesting to see how he copes with the exposure of playing for England should he get a call-up by Roy Hodgson.
It’s also proof to the younger players at the club, as is Ryan Mason’s recent contract, that they will reward younger players if they show promise.
Work hard and they’ll get a new deal if chairman Daniel Levy and manager Mauricio Pochettino see them as part of the club’s future.
