Championship giants Sheffield Wednesday confirmed the signing of striker Sergiu Bus on their website earlier today, with Stuart Gray one of the first managers in the Football League to get some business concluded.
The 22-year-old signed a three-and-a-half year deal from CSKA Sofia and joins the club with an impressive strike rate for the Romanian under-21 team of four goals in seven games.
He gives Gray a different option up front to the players he already has and not many opposition sides will know a great deal about him, which works in Wednesday’s favour.
Gray has to decide whether to slot him into the team straight away or whether to nurse him into the eleven over the next few weeks.
It will be tempting to start him as soon as possible, but that’s a risk because it’s doubtful he can develop a great understanding with the other attacking players in just a few days although he will be eager to make an impression.
Nursing him into the side will give him the opportunity to see what Championship football and the club is all about.
It’s likely to be a more competitive standard of football to what he’s previously experienced and potentially a higher quality than he may anticipate.
The Owls are currently nine points outside the play-off places and Gray deserves a pat on the back for the addition because Wednesday’s attack has scored the fewest number of goals in the entire division from games played so far.
Here’s what Sheffield Wednesday fans made of the signing on Twitter.
Sheffield Wednesday will hope their new signing, Mr Bus, isn't....erm...carrying too many passengers this season. LOLOLOLOLIRRAMENDILOLOLOL— Adam Price (@Adam_Price17) February 2, 2015
