Peter Lovenkrands on Rangers’ defeat to Celtic and on two Newcastle United loanees

Peter Lovenkrands was disappointed with Rangers’ defeat to Celtic, and backs Newcastle United’s Haris Vuckic and Shane Ferguson to be successful at Ibrox.

Peter Lovenkrands has advised Rangers to forget their defeat to Celtic at the weekend and concentrate on getting promotion to the Scottish Premiership.

Scottish giants Rangers lost the Old Firm derby 2-0 at Hampden Park in Glasgow on Sunday to relinquish their chance of reaching the final of the Scottish League Cup.

Kenny McDowall’s side’s performance was hugely disappointing and left much to be desired.

Former Rangers attacker Lovenkrands was not pleased with the team’s display and has urged them to focus on the league, taking to social networking site Twitter to do so.

Rangers are currently second in the Scottish Championship table with 41 points from 20 matches, as many as 16 points behind leaders Hearts.

Although the Glasgow-based outfit have played two fewer games than Hearts, it looks very likely that they will have to settle for a playoff spot.

In order to enhance their chances of promotion to the Premiership, Rangers signed five players on loan from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day.

Gael Bigirimana, Haris Vuckic, Kevin Mbabu, Remie Streete and Shane Ferguson all moved to the Ibrox Stadium.

Lovenkrands, who played for Newcastle as well, believes that at least two of the new players will prove to be very important for Rangers.
