One of Liverpool's summer signings has been speaking about the return of a key member of their squad.
The Reds striker returned to action last weekend, after five months out injured, taking little time to find the back of the net in a 2-0 victory against West Ham United.
Liverpool’s next game is a FA Cup fourth round replay against Bolton Wanderers this evening and Lallana has ambitions of winning the trophy in his first season at Anfield.
“Every kid dreams of going to Wembley and lifting the FA Cup, but you’ve got to do the hard yards to get there,” he said.
With Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton all eliminated at the fourth round stage, the competition has opened up for the remaining 'big guns' – namely Liverpool, Manchester United and current holders Arsenal.
Having lost in the Capital One Cup semi-final against Chelsea last month, Liverpool will be hoping they can succeed in another cup competition, as well as continuing their surge back up the Premier League table; and Sturridge’s return could be key according to Liverpool’s summer signing.
“They made it difficult for us and had a lot of men behind the ball (in the first tie),” Lallana said. Having Sturridge back is a huge bonus, because that’s where he’s at his best – in and around the box.”
Lallana has shown glimpses of his best form since his £25million move from Southampton, but he will be wanting to up his game in the months ahead, with 2015 having the potential to be a very good year for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
