Dundee United captain Sean Dillon is in no doubt that Celtic have made a great signing in Stuart Armstrong.
Dundee United captain Sean Dillon has described what sort of player Celtic are getting in Stuart Armstrong to the Daily Record.
Armstrong moved to the Bhoys on the final day of the transfer window earlier this week and Dillon has suggested Celtic have signed a solid player.
“Stuart has so many strengths so it’s not surprising,” said Dillon.
“He has a lot going for him as physically he’s strong and his turn of pace is ridiculous – it’s a scary turn of pace he has.”
“Stuart’s an intelligent guy off the pitch, he’s developed and learned a lot.”
The pace should see him do extremely well in attack for Celtic because any quick player can threaten a defence.
Whether Ronny Deila uses him down the left or right hand side, he can pin full-backs back inside their own halves, keep them on the back foot and make it generally difficult for them to get up the pitch.
It’s also something which will be useful when Deila’s side counter attacks.
He’s a player the Bhoys can use to exploit space, which is left behind when sides do find the courage to push up the pitch and try to attack the side a little more.
The intelligence Dillon believes he has will also be useful because it should allow him to read the way Celtic are playing and allow him to get into good positions to take advantage as a result.
It will be interesting to see how he adapts and settles in at the Scottish champions.
