Celtic fans react on Twitter to signing of Derry City winger Michael Duffy

Celtic wrapped up the signing of Derry City winger Michael Duffy this week.

Celtic fans were caught up in the mania of signing Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven from Dundee United on deadline day, but the Bhoys completed another deal too.

Derry City winger Michael Duffy, 20, has recently been on trial with Ronny Deila's men, and even scored twice in a friendly against Newcastle United.

It took some time, but Celtic did finally wrap up a deal to bring the youngster to Glasgow, signing a four-and-a-half year deal with the club.

Celtic only confirmed the deal on Tuesday evening, despite Duffy actually being signed before Monday's 12pm transfer deadline in Scotland.

"It feels amazing. It’s like a dream come true," Duffy told the club's official website. "I came over here on trial just before Christmas and spent eight days here and saw two matches that I’d never been to before. It was brilliant."

"I’m now going to work hard and try my best to make an appearance for the first-team and make the fans happy. This is the club I’ve always supported and this is huge for me," he added.

Duffy is now expected to be in the Celtic development squad for the rest of the season, but is certainly seen as one for the future under Deila.

Fans were excited at the prospect of seeing Duffy in action in the coming years, and urged other supporters not to forget about him amid the Armstrong and Mackay-Steven deals.
