Bellerin has enjoyed a breakthrough season at the Emirates this term, all but claiming the right-back role as his own.
His last four appearances have seen the Gunners register four clean sheets, and the 19-year-old Spaniard has proven himself as an attacking force as well. He scored his first career goal last weekend, netting in the 5-0 victory over Aston Villa, and the youngster was widely praised for his performance in that game.
Although Arsenal were playing an opposition who have offered little this season, Bellerin showed all the skills needed to make it at the top level of the game. It is hard to judge the potential of a player off one game - or even a number of games - but the signs that the youngster will develop into a top quality player have been evident.
A former Barcelona academy player, who moved to North London in 2011, Bellerin’s run of recent performances have ben noticed by the Spanish press, and he was named in Sport’s European team of the week.
Sport choose their team of the week based on all players in Europe outside of Spain - the country of its publication - and Bellerin filled the right-back position - as reproduced by Sport Witness.
Bellerin’s Arsenal teammate Santi Cazorla also claimed a place in the team after his impressive month, whilst Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma filled one of the centre-back positions having claimed a starting role at Stamford Bridge for games with Liverpool and Manchester City.
