Ricky Alvarez has reacted on Twitter after his match-winning display against Fulham in the FA Cup last night.
The Argentine winger was in fine form against the Championship opponents, helping his side secure their passage into the third round.
Sunderland had looked like they could be the victims of a nasty upset when Fulham took the lead, but three second half goals turned the game on its head.
Alvarez played a key role in their success too, with his second goal being the stand-out moment of his performance.
The loanee picked up the ball on the right hand side before dribbling past three Fulham defenders and slamming a shot beyond Marcus Bettinelli in the Cottagers' goal.
It was a strike which showed the ability that he has at his disposal and Alvarez was clearly pleased to have got off the mark for the Wearsiders.
He took to Twitter after the match to dedicate the goal to his baby and stated that it had been a 'great win'.
Great victory!!! I dedicate this goal to the son we're expecting. pic.twitter.com/1qpCsX32zj— Ricky Alvarez (@ricky11alvarez) February 3, 2015
Sunderland supporters will be hoping that this goal gives Alvarez the confidence to push on and make a success of his time at the club.
The 26-year-old has failed to live up to expectations so far this season, but his impact last night was proof of his undoubted skill and it should keep him in first-team contention for the side's game this weekend against Swansea City in the Premier League.
