The Eastern Daily Press reported details of West Brom’s move for Olsson falling through and Kemp told the radio show he doesn’t really know why a deal didn’t happen.
“We had a deal agreed in the morning and then for whatever reason Martin turned up very late and there wasn’t enough time to get it done,” said Kemp.
Tony Pulis will now have to rely on his other defensive options unless he can draft in an extra option in the loan window, which opens next week.
Kemp went onto suggest that the chaos of deadline day worked against his club though he says the side gave the deal every chance of happening, as he revealed that he’s been present at the Baggies training ground for the last two nights in a row.
With only a day to do business, it’s difficult for some clubs to complete deals because things can change within a couple of hours.
Olsson would have been a great signing for West Brom because of the pace and drive he provides going forward, but the club will have to wait to get him on a long term deal.
