United morning round-up: Agent on hypothetical £300m price-tag; Shaw on FA Cup

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Darren Fletcher has been speaking following his move from Manchester United to West Bromwich Albion on transfer deadline day.

The Scotland international moved to The Hawthorns on a free transfer and in quotes published by the Baggies’ official website he expressed his pleasure at his next chapter.

“It feels great,” he said. “This is a fantastic new challenge for me in my career.

“A big reason I’m here is because of the head coach.”

Fletcher has been a stalwart at Old Trafford for many years but in recent times he has struggled for minutes with the likes of Michael Carrick and Daley Blind playing ahead of him.

However, he still has much to offer and the move to West Brom could be perfect for him.

In other news, United left-back Luke Shaw has been speaking about the club’s upcoming FA Cup replay against Cambridge United.

The two sides clash at Old Trafford this evening, and in comments published by ESPN the England international said, “The whole team look at it as a trophy we all want to win.”

With the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all eliminated it would be no surprise if Louis van Gaal’s side now went all out to bring some silverware back to the club come May.

And finally, the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo has been speaking to the BBC about his client’s continuing links with a return to United.

Jorge Mendes said, “He will stay at Real Madrid,” despite what he called the player’s “love” for his former club.

He did however throw in a tantalising and possibly cheeky caveat when he said, “If for any reason the club decide to sell him tomorrow for 300million, someone will pay.”
