Tottenham Hotspur clinched the signing of Dele Alli before the transfer deadline.
Tottenham Hotspur gave their fans a reason to stay up last night, announcing a transfer deal for midfielder Dele Alli just after the 11pm deadline.
The England youth international will remain at MK Dons until the end of the season, but admits he is excited to get started, discussing so on his Twitter page.
Delighted to announce I have signed for @SpursOfficial .. Dream come true for me! Can't wait for the new challenge next season— dele alli (@dele_alli36) February 2, 2015
Alli has scored an impressive 12 goals in 27 games for MK Dons in League One this season, the highest of any midfielder in the league.
The teenager's move to stay at MK Dons for now is the right call however, so he can continue to play regular football, rather than risk sitting on the bench between now and the season's end.
Alli is a player who has been touted highly over the past two seasons, and shone against Manchester United in the League Cup earlier this season.
How he adjusts next campaign will be fascinating to watch, if he can settle instantly into the Premier League and is given instant opportunities by Mauricio Pochettino.
Here is a look at how Tottenham fans reacted to the news via Twitter:
