Southampton signed Filip Djuricic from Benfica on loan for the rest of the season on transfer deadline day.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder moves to the Premier League outfit after terminating his loan deal with German club Mainz.
The Serbia international has been on the books of Portuguese giants Benfica since February 2013, when he joined them from Dutch outfit Heerenveen for a transfer fee of £4.5 million, according to BBC Sport.
Djuricic has not exactly been successful at Benfica, which is why he was farmed out on loan to Bundesliga club Mainz at the start of the 2014-15 campaign.
In 11 Bundesliga appearances this season, the former Radnicki Obrenovac star created six chances, won 37% of the duels, had a pass accuracy of 75% and a shot accuracy of 60%.
Djuricic is predominantly an attacking midfielder whose favourite role is at number 10. Skilful on the ball with a good technique, the Serbian could prove to be a good signing for Southampton and help them finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
Following the announcement of Djuricic’s signing on loan from Benfica, Southampton fans took to social networking site Twitter to have their say.

Yall sould watch out for Filip Djuricic, on loan to Southampton from Benfica would embarrass quite a few defenders— Kdot (@Ore_Yusuf) February 3, 2015
The signing of the window for me was Southampton getting Djuricic on loan. Potentially a top player.— Steven Bott (@Steve_bott) February 3, 2015
