Southampton wrapped up the loan signing of Benfica winger Filip Djuricic on deadline day, and then followed that up with more great news.
The 25-year-old had struggled to break into the Chelsea team, and after spending time on loan with Aston Villa last season, made the move to Southampton as Luke Shaw's replacement last summer.
Whilst Shaw was a big player for Southampton, Bertrand has helped fans forget about the Manchester United left back very quickly with a host of superb displays.
With two goals and two assists to his name, Bertrand has been a key attacking force for Ronald Koeman's men, whilst he's also played a huge part in the Premier League's meanest defence.
Fans were naturally ecstatic to have tied up a permanent deal for Bertrand, who signs a four-and-a-half year contract to stay with the club.
Supporters took to Twitter to air their delight, with many suggesting that selling Shaw and bringing in Bertrand was a superb deal from the Saints.
Bertrand a great piece of business. Overjoyed at that one - so pleasing to see a player wanting to stay and grow with us. #saintsfc— The Archers Road End (@ArchersRoadEnd) February 3, 2015
Was bit underwhelmed when #saintsfc signed Ryan Bertrand on loan in summer. Not now. Had a superb season and fully deserves permanent move!— Ben Stanfield (@BenStanners) February 3, 2015
