Soldado sends message to departed Tottenham Hotspur star via Twitter

Roberto Soldado

Tottenham stars past and present have wished Aaron Lennon well.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado has sent a message to Aaron Lennon, wishing him well on the latest chapter of his career.

Lennon sealed a transfer deadline day move to join Roberto Martinez's Everton, having failed to convince Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino he deserved to be a regular starter.

The winger has been at Leeds since 2005, and former Spurs captain Ledley King also took to Twitter to wish him well.

Lennon is still only 27-years-old and has a real chance to prove himself at The Toffees. A former England international, he should suit the attack minded football employed by Martinez.

He was only picked to start two Premier League games by Pochettino, and will have a point to prove, to show his former boss that he was wrong to overlook him.

Spurs did not sign a replacement winger, and the move is an intriguing one, less so for them, but for those who rate Lennon as a top talent, to see if he can recapture the form which saw him picked for two World Cup squads by different England managers.
