Ryan Mason has suggested to the Tottenham website that the squad are excited about facing Arsenal in the North London derby this weekend.
Tottenham host Arsenal this Sunday and did well to battle to a draw away at the Emirates earlier in the season thanks to a goal from Nacer Chadli.
Mason has suggested it’s strange for the side not to have a game this week, but has stressed that means Tottenham won’t be any less sharp and ready by the time the game kicks-off.
“We were all on it out there today (in training) - We’re on a good run – it’s important at this time of year that we keep winning games,” said Mason.
“It’s rare to have a week without a game like the one we’ve got coming up but everyone is going to be on it in training this week and we can’t wait for Saturday to come around.”
The match this weekend is made extra interesting when considering there is very little between the teams in the fight for the top four.
Arsenal are ahead by two points but that’s a gap Spurs will overcome if they secure a victory in front of their own fans.
It’s important Tottenham make the most of their home advantage because Arsenal have a lot of quality and Spurs need to impose themselves on the game as quickly as possible.
If the supporters create an intimidating atmosphere and Tottenham can start the game well, Mauricio Pochettino would back them to defend any lead they can create in the first-half.
Where the boss faces a challenge this week is knowing when to step in and curb the enthusiasm Mason, and several teammates, have in order to conserve that vital energy.
