Former Leicester City and Derby County star Robbie Savage has his say on Aaron Lennon’s move from Tottenham Hotspur to Everton on loan.

Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage has given his take on Everton’s signing of Aaron Lennon to BT Sport.

Merseyside outfit Everton recruited the England international winger on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the season.

The Toffees completed the signing of the 27-year-old in the final hours of the January transfer window, as confirmed by the club's official website.

Savage believes that Everton’s deadline day signing will prove to be a good addition to the current squad, but he has raised one doubt.

“They (Everton) need to get more balls into the box,” the 40-year-old told BT Sport’s Football Tonight show on Monday evening.

“They keep ball for too long, too much possession, side to side. They need a direct player and to be fair, Lennon is, but his final ball is not always good.”

Lennon is not the best of wingers in the Premier League, but he will provide Everton with width and pace.

The former Leeds United star has not played much football this season, having featured in only nine Premier League matches for Tottenham.

The Englishman created nine chances in total in those matches, while having a pass accuracy of 85% and winning 46% of the duels.

Lennon will be expected to hit the ground running at Everton, who are struggling in the Premier League at the moment.

The Liverpool-based outfit are currently 12th in the league table with 26 points from 23 matches, just seven points above the relegation zone.
