Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage has told BT Sport that Tottenham Hotspur will not finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
The 40-year-old made the comments during the Football Tonight show on Monday evening.
“I think Daniel Sturridge could be the difference between Liverpool coming back and finishing in the top four,” the former Wales international told BT Sport. “That fourth place is up for grabs.
“I think Arsenal, (Manchester) City and Chelsea will be the top three. (I think the fourth place) is between (Manchester) United and Liverpool. I don’t think Spurs will finish in the top four.”
As things stand, Chelsea are Manchester City are almost guaranteed to finish in the top two of the Premier League this campaign.
Manchester United are currently third and Southampton are fourth, while North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are fifth and sixth respectively in the standings.
Liverpool are as low as seventh, but Brendan Rodgers’s side are just five points behind United. Interestingly, West Ham in eighth are only two points behind the Reds.
It is indeed very tight among the teams involved for the race for the top four, and one cannot say for sure who will finish third and fourth at this stage of the season.
Arsenal are in great form at the moment and have started the New Year brilliantly, and perhaps that is why Savage suggests that they will end up in the top three.
However, the Gunners have a big game coming up on Saturday. Winning against an in-form Tottenham side at White Hart Lane will not be easy, and the North London derby could play a key role in shaping Arsenal’s prospects for the season.
