Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor utilised the mass hysteria around transfer deadline day to his advantage yesterday as he used the opportunity to wind up unfortunate Sky Sports reporter Pete Graves.
Taylor texted Graves to inform him that he was on the move, allowing the Sky Sports employee to get excited that he had just received a major scoop.
Unfortunately for Graves he was on the wrong end of the joke, as Taylor then proceeded to tell him he was just popping down to the shops.
The exchange between the pair has now gone viral on social media site Twitter and it may actually be the highlight of what was a bland deadline day.
There were few transfers of note that went through on the final day of the window, with Premier League sides starting to operate with more caution in a period that is famed for rushed deals.
Newcastle supporters certainly didn't get what they wanted, with not one incoming transfer being made during the entirety of the month.
Instead, the Magpies used the opportunity to offload some of their fringe players with Davide Santon joining Inter Milan and five of their youngsters going on loan to Rangers.
