A round up of news stories this morning related to Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers has been quoted by ESPN, suggesting Steven Gerrard won’t approach his 700th game for the club any differently.

Gerrard will become the third player in the club’s history to make 700 appearances and over if he features against Bolton in the FA Cup replay.

Rodgers doesn’t feel that his approach will be any different.

ESPN has also reported that midfielder Philippe Coutinho is close to agreeing a new long term contract with the club.

The deal will reportedly run until 2020, with ESPN claiming that talks between the club and his representatives have progressed rapidly in recent weeks.

Coutinho is arguably the best playmaker at the club.

The Evening Herald has reported that Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert turned down the chance to move to Aston Villa.

Villa are reportedly one of the clubs who made a transfer deadline day move for the forward, who has struggled to find his best form at Anfield.

The Herald reports that Villa are thought to have offered upwards of around £5 million.
