Everton new boy Aaron Lennon reacts on Twitter to 'miserable' unveiling photos

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Aaron Lennon has insisted he's looking forward to the coming months at Everton - despite appearances suggesting otherwise.

Aaron Lennon has been forced to respond after he was snapped looking miserable following his move to Everton.

Lennon, 27, joined Everton on a season-long loan hours before the transfer deadline after being frozen out of the first-team picture at Tottenham Hotspur, with the Toffees beating Premier League rivals Hull, Leicester and Stoke to his signature.

Despite the chance of regular minutes at Goodison Park, the England winger didn’t appear too pleased in the first pictures of himself holding a Toffees shirt, but he’s since taken to Twitter to insist he’s more than excited to begin a new chapter in his career.

Lennon, who has won 30 international caps, has scored 30 goals in 364 total appearances since joining Spurs from Leeds United in June 2005 for £1 million, but has made just three Premier League starts under new manager Mauricio Pochettino this season.

Now eager to revive his career with the Blues, boss Roberto Martinez told the club’s official website of his delight at getting the wide man on board for the remainder of the season.

“We are very excited as you can imagine,” he said. “Aaron is an addition to the squad that gets you very much looking forward to training. He can have an impact straight away.

“For us, he is someone who can play on both wings with a lot of power and a lot of pace. He has incredible ball control on top of that. Aaron is someone who I think will fit in really well at Goodison.”

Lennon could now be thrown into the deep end on the weekend, with the Spurs loanee in contention to start Saturday evening’s Merseyside derby against Liverpool.
